Dr. Orehek is director of the Social Life and Motivation Lab at University of Pittsburgh.  He has authored more than 50 scholarly publications in outlets such as Psychological Review, Annual Review of Psychology, Perspectives on Psychological Science, and Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. His research examines human social life and motivation, including how people serve as means to one another’s goals. Current projects in the lab focus on: (1) How does goal pursuit influence interpersonal relationships? (2) How does one’s social life influence goal pursuit? (3) How can a people-as-means approach help us understand psychological well-being?
